Import Requirements for Nuts
Due to food safety and quarantine regulations, not all countries' nuts are permitted to enter China. Only nuts that fully comply with market access requirements, overseas producer registration requirements, and importer/exporter filing requirements may be exported to China.
1. Market Access Requirements
Nuts must originate from approved countries. Access the following URL: http://43.248.49.223/ (General Administration of Customs Portal → About Us → Import and Export Food Safety Bureau → Information Services → Business Information → “List of Countries/Regions Meeting Assessment Requirements and Having Traditional Trade in Food Exports to China”). Click “Plant-Based Foods” to search.
2. Overseas Production Enterprise Filing Requirements
(1) Legal Basis: Article 96 of the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China; Regulations on the Administration of Registration of Overseas Production Enterprises for Imported Food of the People's Republic of China.
(2) Application Method: Log in to the “Internet + Customs” integrated platform at http://online.customs.gov.cn. Select the “Import/Export Food” module, then click the “Registration of Overseas Production Enterprises for Imported Food” option.
(3) Query Registered Enterprises: Access the module “General Administration of Customs Official Website → Import and Export Food Safety Bureau → Information Services → Business Information → Registration Information for Overseas Imported Food Manufacturers” for inquiries.
3. Import/Export Business Registration Requirements
(1) Legal Basis: Article 96 of the Food Safety Law of the People's Republic of China; Article 19 of the Measures for the Administration of Import and Export Food Safety of the People's Republic of China.
(2) Application Method: Log in to the “Internet + Customs” integrated platform at http://online.customs.gov.cn. Select the “Enterprise Management and Inspection” module, then click the “Import Food Importer Registration” and “Import Food/Cosmetics Exporter and Agent Registration” options.
